The heater surface will be hot to touch and is safe for adults only but will not burn due to use of non-conducting materials. A momentary touch will not harm anyone but caution to be used if toddlers are present. 90% of the heat transfer occurs by natural convection and only 10% radiant heat from the front surface. The Dual model come with Heatguard however. This is a plate that mounts on top of the heater surface so that the user is protected against touching the hot surface.
